- And now? The things I see out there about this disease are terrible!
- There is no chance of me living an ordinary life.
- My children will certainly inherit this illness.
- I no longer have to wait for an improvement.
Having a dermatologist focus on taking care of my hives mainly meant calming my fears. Initially, when we research any disease, we are impressed by the risks, symptoms, extreme cases and we also deal with the uncertainties of what tomorrow will be like.
We wonder if there is treatment, if we will go through this for the rest of our lives and if our generation will face the same thing.
A life without my doctor would make me live with all these ghosts, and more than that, it wouldn't give me clarity about what to expect in the future.
For those facing a chronic illness, consultations become so constant and habitual that you now feel comfortable exposing your biggest challenges. Your conversations with your doctor become longer, doubts are more present and so are the directions on what to do.
It was not uncommon for me to cry during the appointment. Sometimes we feel so fragile when faced with hives that we get upset. It was exactly at those times that I was able to receive support and clarification from my dermatologist, so that I didn't despair.
After all, living with the symptoms of hives is not easy. Just imagine, doing this alone?
Unfortunately, by personal choice, I have been there. I decided to do without the help of any medical professional and only relied on myself. It was a horrible time! I had no hope of getting rid of my symptoms, on the contrary, I resigned myself day after day to my skin condition and was becoming isolated. I realize that the lack of medical support at that time led me to imagine that my case would have no chance and that I would never meet people who shared the same problems as me.
It's a real shot!
Today I believe that the main objective of having urticaria monitoring is guidance and this does not just concern a prescription, but everything that involves your life with the disease: your perceptions about it, the way you feel, the perspectives of improvement and mainly, how you are responding to the proposed treatment.
Feel free to build a relationship with your doctor. After all, it will be your great ally on your journey with hives.
A life without this partnership weighs heavily on your shoulders.
Let's go together?
