Did you know that today, October 1st, Urticaria Day is celebrated? This date is celebrated in several countries. It is very important for us to pay attention to a day like this to give more visibility to the topic and draw attention to the misinformation that still exists.
Many people live with hives right now and still don't know what they have. They live in an intense search for diagnosis and many people give up seeking help.
As you know, 3000dias has been fighting for quality information focused on urticaria since 2016 and in that time we find many patients who are giving up treating their disease. That is very dangerous. Because the way out of treatment and medical monitoring is self medication, since urticaria, especially the spontaneous type (SCU), persists for several days.
Every year here at 3000dias we make a special video for Urticaria Awareness Day, and we explore several topics.
In 2016 we made a short motion-style video to explain the disease in a simple way, what it is, how it happens and what the symptoms are. Click here to check out the video.
Later, in 2017 we made a special video discussing the importance of the skin, as the largest organ in the human body and that there are many people affected by skin diseases right now. You can watch this video in this link.
In 2018 we worked with special content focused on the problem of diagnosis – which is most of the time exhaustive and time-consuming – in a special video talking about time. Click here to watch.
Last year we decided to give special emphasis to the emotional factors that are negatively aggravated in those who live with skin issues, including hives. This video was fundamental, because from it we decided to extend the discussion further to the project Beyond the Skin – a 3000dias initiative focused on talking about the emotional impact on the lives of those living with skin diseases. You can see last year's video here.
This year we realized the importance of talking about patient role, because it is his awakening to your improvement. We live in a world where people are saturated in activities that demand everything from them. And often this rush and rush means there is no “time” to prioritize. Medical care and the pursuit of health will always be relevant issues. The effectiveness of urticaria treatment exists, but many are still not aware of their self-care.
And that's why this year our theme is focused on talking about the resumption of this action by the patient, who needs to be the first to believe, invest and dedicate themselves to their improvement. Looking for help, treatment and control of your symptoms.
We know that treating your illness and finding relief is not at all about you.. It involves finding the right doctor, finding the treatment and often needing public support to pay for it (we know this well). But we have to say one thing: if you are convinced of not looking at yourself more carefully, no amount of information can help.
On this first of October, the day that celebrates awareness of the disease, the @3000days wants to shine a spotlight on you:
Taking care of your health matters, because you matter.
You have the right to feel better about your skin condition.
