You know: living with hives, in a constant routine of symptoms makes us notice some patterns. Some things are repeated, scenes we've seen before, questions that are always the same.
These days I was thinking about the intense days of my journey with the disease and I realized: there are some facts that could have happened to everyone!
We list it here 5 facts about the lives of those who have hives, be it #UCE or other types.
See which ones resonate with you:
#01 your illness will be confused with several others. several times.
You must have already experienced this, in fact this is proven scientific data, the diagnostic journey It is the main problem of living with the disease. It is often confused with allergies, for example; and it is very common to see many specialists, do many exams, so that you can really know what you have 😐
#02 will think it has to do with food. sometimes you will believe it.
Who has already done it? diet? Because hives are often confused with allergies, one of the first things that happens is: elimination of certain foods from your diet routine, diet diary, and lots of RAST testing. We've already talked about this at 3000dias: we're super in favor of dietary review and re-education, especially because this can change everything – not just about the hives – but for the patient's entire health! But there is no scientific evidence that chronic urticaria is related to tomatoes, as it happened to me :S
#03 you will need to explain what you have many times, to the same people.
This is the part that makes me laziest. Who out there agrees?
“But I already told you how it works, auntie…”
“I’ll explain how it is, once again.”
“No, no, it’s not an allergy.”
“Okay, it’s like an allergy.”
Sometimes, to shorten the conversation, you even agree to say that it is similar to an allergy, because it is people's common sense. AND explain what #UCE is then, even worse. Already tried?
The good part is how much you practice explaining it makes you come up with more creative ways of understanding the disease and this will help you yourself 😀
#04 on days with symptoms, it will create many ways to relieve itching. but you will regret it.
Everyone has already wanted relieve itching, and many of us have been hurt because of it. When it comes to relief, you take the necessary – and most creative – measures to reduce that feeling. But after that happens, wow, you realize it's not worth it. You know: scratching doesn't do much good, and using objects and ending up hurting your skin can create wounds and scars. And this is not something that hives cause – because hives go away without leaving any visible marks – but that our desperation for relief causes 🙁
#05 On days without symptoms, you will want to experience everything that exists and has to do, to guarantee tomorrow.
This happened to me ALWAYS. Wow, symptom-free days, I need to book a beautician, wax, go to the water park, wear this outfit... all the things I avoided on days with symptoms, I wanted to exaggerate on days without. The feeling of joy and reward that symptom-free days generated is a lot of energy and desire to live life ;D
And there? Which one did you most identify with? Tell us <3
